Japan in cherry blossom season

Five Days of Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka in Bloom

Follow lantern-lit lanes in Kyoto, pause beside a blossom-lined canal, and discover the warmth of Japan’s Kansai region. This five-day private cherry blossom tour brings together temple gardens, Nara’s deer park, and Osaka’s lively streets, with personal arrangements that let you enjoy each place in your own way.

This is a proposed private itinerary. Hotels, transportation, meals, admissions, and experiences are confirmed in your written quotation. Cherry blossom timing and Mount Fuji views depend on natural conditions.

Your Day-by-Day Journey

Day 1 – Arrival in Kyoto: Welcome to Japan’s Spring Splendor

Your private driver greets you at Kansai or Osaka Itami Airport for a comfortable transfer to your Kyoto hotel. Depending on your arrival time, begin your cherry blossom journey with an evening stroll through Gion Shirakawa, where traditional tea houses glow softly beneath arching cherry trees reflected in the canal.

Overnight: Kyoto

Day 2 – Kyoto Highlights & Arashiyama Blossoms

Start your morning at Fushimi Inari Taisha, exploring its thousands of vermilion torii gates framed by early-blooming sakura. Continue to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), where the golden reflection contrasts beautifully with pink cherry blossoms in the surrounding gardens.

In the afternoon, head to Arashiyama, one of Kyoto’s most scenic districts during spring. Stroll through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, then enjoy a private rickshaw ride along the riverside lined with blooming cherry trees. Cross the Togetsukyo Bridge, a famous spot where mountains, river, and sakura form a postcard-perfect view.

Day 3 – Kyoto Hanami Trail: Temples & Blossom Views

Today focuses on Kyoto’s most iconic cherry blossom spots. Begin at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, where sweeping views of the city unfold beneath a canopy of blossoms. Walk down Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, lined with weeping cherry trees and traditional shops.

Continue to the Philosopher’s Path, a stone walkway following a canal bordered by hundreds of sakura trees — one of Kyoto’s most beloved hanami locations. Visit nearby Heian Shrine, whose vast gardens and weeping cherries reach full bloom in early April. End the day with a peaceful tea ceremony surrounded by spring scenery.

Day 4 – Nara & Osaka Cherry Blossom Highlights

After breakfast, travel to Nara, where Nara Park bursts into pink around Todai-ji Temple and the Great Buddha Hall. Stroll beneath the blossoms, feed the friendly deer, and enjoy this uniquely peaceful spring experience.

Continue to Osaka, visiting Osaka Castle Park, one of Japan’s most famous cherry blossom sites with over 4,000 trees framing the historic castle and surrounding moats. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere at Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, illuminated by spring colors and festive lights. Return to Kyoto in the evening.

Day 5 – Farewell to Japan’s Blossoms

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Kyoto. If time allows, visit Maruyama Park, the city’s oldest and most famous hanami spot, home to the magnificent weeping cherry tree (shidarezakura). Your private driver will transfer you to Kansai or Osaka Airport for departure.

Bid farewell to Japan with unforgettable memories of cherry blossoms, ancient temples, and the warmth of springtime hospitality.
